Volunteering
Your skill also saves lives.
No matter what you do — there is a place for you in Bento’s chain.
What being a volunteer means
Giving time and talentYou contribute your skills without pay, under the Brazilian Volunteer Law (Law 9,608/1998).
It is not a jobVolunteering creates no salary, employment or social-security relationship. Reimbursing an authorized expense is not payment.
It is not membershipVolunteers are not members of the association and do not vote in assemblies. You can be both if you wish.
Your time is in the accountsUnder the accounting standard (ITG 2002), volunteer work is recorded at fair value, as revenue and expense at the same time.
From interest to your first activity
- Application and agreementYou fill in the form on this page and then read and sign the Volunteer Agreement right here, with a code sent to your e-mail.
- ScreeningOur team reads your application and talks to you — an interview, in person or online — to agree on where and how you will help.
- ApprovalOnce approved, the Institute signs the agreement and you become a volunteer. No approved agreement, no activity.
- OnboardingWithin 15 days, an in-person or online session presents our mission, the Code of Ethics, the protocols for your area and who to contact in each situation.
- Getting startedYou begin the agreed activities, always with a reference person from the team.
In an emergency — an animal whose life is at risk — the Board may authorize help before the agreement, which must then be signed within 3 business days.
Your commitments
- Follow the Code of Ethics and ConductIn the field, on social media and with adopters and partners. Your public conduct also speaks for the Institute.

- Safety firstIn any incident, remove the risk, notify the person in charge within 2 hours and file a report within 24 hours.
- Ask before spendingOnly expenses authorized in advance are reimbursed. Keep the receipts and request reimbursement within 30 days.
- Protect informationData about adopters, donors and partners that reaches you is confidential (Brazilian data protection law, LGPD).
- Give notice when leavingYou may leave whenever you want: give 7 days’ notice if an activity is under way and return materials and access within 5 days.
